HAAGA-HELIA’s activities in Porvoo stepped into a new era in January 2011, when the school moved into a new campus designed and built for HAAGA-HELIA on the West bank of Porvoo river.  Come and share our first experience of the new facilities! 

With HAAGA-HELIA in Porvoo you will be aiming at a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism or in International Business. Each of the degrees can be taken in one of the three languages: Finnish, Swedish, and English.

HAAGA-HELIA will share its Porvoo Campus with the Faculty of Medical Nursing of Laurea University of Applied Sciences. Altogether, the Campus will provide working space to about 1000 students and about 100 staff members.

On Porvoo Campus students learn via work-related projects in cooperation with partners from various industries.   
 
Once enrolled in any of HAAGA-HELIA’s study programmes on Porvoo Campus, you will become actively involved in your studies and will learn how to take responsibility for the learning process. All learning processes take place within projects, which are related to real work-life situations, where students, teachers, and representatives of relevant industries plan and implement curriculum activities that make part of the projects. The learning processes cover a large number of learning entities, which unfold through various activities (study of relevant literature sources, participation in lectures, seminars, workshops). Learning processes are also oriented towards problem-solving tasks, which are carried out both individually and in teams.  The study programme will also offer you 20 weeks of work placement and support to conduct a research and write a thesis.

Porvoo Campus will feature large spaces available to public and designed particularly to facilitate intellectual activities and to encourage interaction between people. 

The new Campus is a result of an exclusive design plan, brought forward and implemented by its future users, property developers, architects, and interior designers towards optimal learning and exciting encounters. This can be seen in the building’s multifunctional and easily re-designable room spaces, its enlightening and meticulously selected interiors.

HAAGA-HELIA students are involved in various international projects and are encouraged to develop skills of international communications in many ways. The Campus is a place where students from various parts of the world share everyday activities.  At the same time, the students can accomplish some of their studies by taking courses of a work placement in any of numerous HAAGA-HELIA’s partner schools abroad.  Find out more about HAAGA-HELIA’s international activities . 

Another essential advantage of Porvoo Campus is an annual conference meeting, PORVOO CAMPUS ENCOUNTERS, where academic scholars, policy-makers in education, and business stakeholders can enjoy innovative learning environment, international networking, and the modern setting of the Campus. Porvoo Campus Encounters is co-hosted by HAAGA-HELIA and Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The conference dates are April 11-15, 2011.
