Laurea Porvoo – Creating Wellness Laurea is the fourth largest University of Applied Sciences in Finland and operates in the Greater Helsinki Region in seven units. Laurea produces new competences in the field of service innovations and carries out professionally orientated education, regional development and R&D activities by following the Learning by Developing (LbD) operational model. Laurea employs approximately 500 personnel and has app. 8 000 students.
Laurea Porvoo creates new competences in health care and wellness. Laurea Porvoo has app. 290 nursing students who will be qualified to work as public health nurses or ordinary nurses after graduation. Developing health care services in co-operation with private and public sectors plays an essential role in the students’ studies. Developing service processes and products in the public sector and know-how in wellness entrepreneurship are ways of answering to the challenges of the future.
Laurea Porvoo’s activities in Porvoo Campus stand for an open-minded way of working beyond organizational boundaries. Together with the business and tourism expertise of HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, Laurea Porvoo creates new, innovative and diversified know-how in health care and wellness. Working in industry based multidisciplinary projects and Symbio 2.0 activities are an emblematic part of co-operation inside the Campus and with the different actors of the Itä-Uusimaa region.
